How to join, what you can do as a member, and how we handle messages from the contact form.
How do I join?
Joining is free and only takes a minute. Click the red Join now button on the home page, or go straight to the sign-in page and choose Create account.
- Enter your email address and choose a strong password.
- Check your inbox for a verification email and click the confirmation link.
- An admin reviews and approves your application.
- Once approved, you are a full member and can post, reply, and upload media.
If your application is taking longer than expected, use the Contact Us form and we will look into it.
What role does each member get?
Every approved account is assigned a role. Roles control what you can do inside the community.
| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Member | The default role for approved detectorists. Members can create forum threads, reply to posts, and upload up to five images and one video per thread. |
| Moderator | Trusted members who help keep discussions on track and can remove inappropriate content. |
| Admin | Site administrators approve new members, manage roles, pick the Video of the Week, and respond to contact-form messages through the admin inbox. |
How does the inbox work?
When you fill out the Contact Us form, your message goes straight into the admin inbox. Only admins can see it.
- New — The message has arrived but has not been read yet.
- Read — An admin has opened the message.
- Archived — The message is resolved and stored for reference.
Admins can add internal notes, reply directly by email, archive a message, or delete it when it is no longer needed. Replies come from the site email address, so check your inbox and spam folder for a response.
